Re: POA 2017-271

Dear Sens. Murkowski and Sullivan,

Please stand with the majority of Alaskans and the Bristol Bay fishing industry and call for a halt to the Army Corps of Engineers' deeply-flawed EIS process. The proposed Pebble Mine will harm Bristol Bay's resources and the people of Alaska do not want this mine to be built. We need your leadership now in order to halt what could be one of the worst mistakes ever made in Alaska.

For years you said we had to wait and see a permit before Pebble could be judged and that we need a fair and transparent process. Now we have seen the permit application and it's clear Pebble would do irreparable harm to Bristol Bay and Alaska's fishing economy. The process has ignored Alaskans, is being rushed at an unprecedented pace, and ignores the biggest threats from Pebble to our fisheries. It looks to Alaskans like the federal government is more concerned with million-dollar bonuses to Pebble's lobbysts than Alaskans and our way of life.

The majority of Alaskans oppose this project. We need you to keep your promise and stand up for Alaskans. Stop the Pebble Mine.
